How to keep yourself hydrated in summer

Dehydration is a serious issue. Dehydration will occur when you lose more fluid than you take in. Most common signs of dehydration are:

  • Extreme thirst
  • Less urination
  • Dark colored urine
  • Tiredness
  • Always Sleepy

Following are the few points which should be considered to keep yourself hydrated.

  • Always carry a water bottle with you
  • Eat healthy enriched with water rich foods
  • Avoid beverages
  • Drink plenty of water while you exercise

There are few fruits and vegetables that are naturally high in water content. So you should add them in your diet.

  • Cantaloupe (Garma)
  • Cucumbers
  • Grapefruit
  • Lemon
  • Peach
  • Tomatoes
  • Watermelon

Try some of the following ingredients too because they are good source of electrolytes.

  • Coconut water
  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Avocado
  • Milk, Yogurt
  • Strawberries, oranges, bananas

Always keep in your mind that heat exhaustion happens quickly, especially during summer activities which can lead to heat stroke, a dangerous condition that can lead to seizures, coma irritability, and agitation. If you feel dehydrated or overheated, get out of heat, sip some water and apply cool water patches to your head, neck and chest.
