What are the symptoms and causes of Alzheimer’s?

Every year September 21st is World Alzheimer’s Day all across the globe. This is an international campaign, for the sake of raising awareness and provocation in public regarding Alzheimer’s and stigma faced by those patients.

Alzheimer’s is a gradually intensifying disease that deteriorates memory and exaggerates other mental health issues by loss of essential cognitive abilities hence devastating person’s daily life. The brain cells lose their connections gradually, degenerate and then die causing memory loss and confusion.

The stigmatization and mal-information concerning dementia is a problem that calls for global activity. Most people often think that this disease is as normal as ageing. However, this may not be the right fact; greatest risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease is increasing age.

No cure exists for the treatment of Alzheimer’s, but medication and management strategies may keep person relaxed with temporary improvement in symptoms.

The theme for World Alzheimer’s Month in 2020 is ‘Let’s talk about dementia’.

Dementia relates to gradual loss in memory, thinking, behavior, and the ability to perform daily activities. It is simply characterized by impairment of at least two major brain functions, such as amnesia and judgment. Revealing the major symptoms like forgetfulness, limited social skills, and thinking abilities

This year we aim to raise apprehension of how it impacts the daily lives of people suffering by this condition and challenge the curse that cuts them off from society. People and organizations who care for suffering individuals have an opportunity to exemplify how we can help them overcome these issues and  live well with dementia.  To take over this global dementia challenge we need to join hands together, and collaborate and share best practice with one another.

#Break the silence around dementia.
